Introduction

Baloonza is a Chrome extension and website that turns reading on real websites into language practice. Baloonza is currently in beta, access is available through a waitlist, and the service is free during the beta.

This policy explains what information Baloonza collects, why we use it, and the choices available to you.

Information we collect

  • Waitlist information: the email address you submit to join the beta waitlist.
  • Account information: your email address and authentication information when you create or use a Baloonza account.
  • Learning data: your learning languages and settings, the words you open, star, mark as known or unknown, challenge and flash-card activity, learning sessions, and progress. To create challenges from real websites, the extension processes the text you select and relevant page context, such as the surrounding sentence, page URL, and page title.
  • Usage analytics: information about how you use Baloonza, such as feature use and interactions with the website and extension.
  • Basic technical data: information such as your IP address, browser or device information, and diagnostic logs generated when you use the service.

How we use it

We use this information to provide and operate Baloonza, create language challenges, save and show your learning progress, manage beta access, communicate with you about the service, understand how the product is used, improve Baloonza, and protect the service from errors, abuse, and security threats.

We may share information with service providers that help us host, operate, analyze, and support Baloonza. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of the service. We never sell personal data.

Baloonza and our analytics tools, including third-party analytics providers, may use cookies and similar technologies to keep the service working, remember your settings, and understand how Baloonza is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; blocking some cookies may affect how the service works.

Data security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect personal information. No online service can guarantee complete security, but we work to reduce the risk of unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.
